Learn A Good Way To Set Your Side Mirrors On Your New Car or Truck

We have all been the victim of a blind spot. You know the feeling of panic that crosses your mind when you’ve changed lanes and someone was in your blind spot or vice versa. It’s a real quick and easy way to hit someone or panic and lose control. So when you get a new car or truck make sure that you set your side mirrors correctly to best avoid the panic situation.

Thanks to the people at Car Talk, here is a method that will help remove that dangerous blind spot when changing lanes.

Step 1: Start by setting your Rear-view mirror like you normally would.

Step 2: Now while setting in the driver’s set, lean your head all the way to the left so that it is touching the window.  While touching your head to the window, now adjust the left side-view mirror so that you can see the back corner of your car. Left-side mirror alignment:  Set the left-side mirror so that as soon as the passing car’s left, front headlight disappears from your rear-view mirror, the car appears in your left-side mirror.

You might need to make slight adjustment to ensure everything lines up.  A good way to do this is pull up to a line of parked cars that will simulate another lane of traffic.

Step 3: Now lean the same distance to the right.  Then adjust the right rear-view mirror so that you can see the back corner of your car. Right-side mirror alignment:  Same as the left.

Step 4: You are ready.  Driving with the mirrors set this way may take some time getting used to.  Remember, here you are relying on your rear-view mirror first.  Also, you will need to get used to seeing what the side-view mirrors are looking at.

The good news? The blind spot should be gone. Do you think you will try these tips out?
