Is Your New Car or Truck Sick? If It’s A GM Don’t Worry They’ll Let You Know.

For a long time now cars and trucks have had diagnostic systems on them. Even if you drive an older model vehicle, when the check engine light came on you knew something was wrong. However, wouldn’t it have been nice for the car or truck to tell you exactly what was wrong and what needed to be fixed? I’m sure it would help a lot of people out. Were you aware that there is a way for your new car or truck to send you an email when something needs attention? Well that is where General Motors and OnStar comes in to play with their diagnostic system.

It just so happens that in January Onstar sent an email to 1.8 million Chevy owners. Guess what their cars told them: 11% were overdue for an oil change, 38% got the news that they have a least one tire with low pressure, and 1% had some sort of mechanical problem, most of those were just annoying issues like the gas cap wasn’t on tight enough.

Some people could find this sort of thing very annoying but I know more than a few busy people out there that would appreciate an email reminding them to get their oil changed. We live in a fast paced world and things can slip our mind from time to time. There’s only so many strings you can tie around your finger before you forget which string is which.

When you head over to your Cincinnati GMC dealer and you get your new car or truck you can sign up to get a monthly e-mail which will let you know what’s wrong with your new car or truck and what needs to be tended to. I know my wife loves it! This is honestly just another one of a million reasons you need and want OnStar in your new car or truck.

What do you think? Do you think this will aid in keeping your new car or truck in top running condition?
