Apple CarPlayFor 2016, Cadillac is bringing on new technology, such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, to provide Ohio drivers with an even better driving experience. These additions are part of Cadillac’s user experience or CUE expansion. 2016 models except the SRX Crossover will see the debut of Apple CarPlay with an 8-inch multi-touch screen. With the 2015 Cadillac being the first luxury brand providing 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity as well as wireless charging and Cadillac continually upgrading its technology, this is the next logical step.

Integrate Your Phone

To easily access your Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, simply use the “Projection” icon that will appear on your CUE screen. This will allow you to set up easy access to navigation, contacts, specific applications, hands-free texting, and other key smartphone functions.

Apple CarPlay iPhone features that don’t need to be accessed while driving are put on display in an easy-to-access manner. This allows you to reach them with the touchscreen or with Siri. This includes some third-party apps that are compatible as well as Phone, Messages, Maps, and Music.

If you’re using Android Auto, built to work with Google Now and Google Maps, you can speak to Google and easily access Skype, Google Play Music, Spotify, and WhatsApp as well as podcast players. One thing that drivers love most is the ability to use voice commands through a button located on the steering wheel, allowing eyes to stay on the road and for safer travel. Wireless charging has been added as well as OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi service for the new Cadillacs.

These systems do require that the phone is connected with USB. Compatibility requires iOS 7.1 and higher or iPhone 5 and later. For the Android Auto, you will need Android Lollipop operating system.

The 2016 models will see a more powerful processor with faster system start-up, faster navigation, media playing, and voice recognition. Navigation allows for easier entry of destinations and quicker searches. Map screens are redesigned for better use and one-touch control. You can also utilize muting voice navigation and route cancelation. For luxury vehicles like the CTS, XTS, and Escalade, the CUE screen will have Surround Vision providing a 360-degree view of the vehicle’s perimeter.
