2016 GMC Terrain
GMC 2016 Terrain available in SLT,SL, Denali models
GMC’s 2016 Terrain small SUV will be available in two different models this year, the SLT and the SLE. The interior and exterior of the vehicle has undergone a redesign from prior models. It may be noted that in 2009 the GMC Company first introduced the Terrain. This is the first major renovation of this vehicle since that time. As such, major advances in the technology, performance, power, as well as new considerations to the aesthetics and design have been implemented. Where the prior models do offer high levels in these areas, the new model has taken advantage of the progressions within the automotive industry and the technology since 2009 in the redesign.
Exterior and Interior Features
The exterior of the 2016 GMC Terrain has added more curvature to the vehicle to reduce the wind resistance while driving. This in turn boosts the fuel efficiency of the vehicle as well as adds to the aesthetics and the perception of motion when viewing the car. Angular components such as the front grille have been accented to bring out the power and performance of the small SUV. A power dome hood design draws attention to the engine space while the accented side curves draw the viewer to the back where they will see new chromed accents. Where some competitors have opted for sharp edges, the exterior of the GMC 2016 Terrain has filleted the edges so as not to have the stereotypical “boxy” look. GMC has also added two colors to the Terrain selection choices of the prior models, White Frost Tricoat and Crimson Red Tintcoat. Wheel and rim updates are also available on some models.
Interior elements have been redesigned with functionality and comfort in mind. Integrating a front dash which is slightly tilted allows for the driver to easily see the display as well as helps to reduce the amount of time the eyes are adverted from the road. Available seat options allow for the driver to be alerted should there be the potential for a collision through the Seat Alert System. Passengers can enjoy the available ventilated seating. New features also include a new center stack, upgraded upholstery choices (such as the Saddle up leather and Two Tone Titanium and Black leather options), and available eight way power adjustable passenger seating on select models. Chrome trim may be available for both the interior and exterior depending on the model you choose.

There are a few model options available for the 2016 GMC Terrain. These are the SLT ,SLE, and Denali. Depending on the features and the trim that you chose you may have the option of a 2.4L 4- Cylinder Eco Tech engine or a 3.6L V6 engine. Both engines have been designed to deliver a higher level of torque and compression than other vehicles in their class. This leads to a competitive city and highway mpg. Standard on the 2016 GMC Terrain is a FWD transmission. You can choose to upgrade the transmission to an AWD depending on the model you chose.
Safety Engineering was at the forefront of the redesigned 2016 GMC Terrain. Using a steel frame designed to minimize the force of impact as well as 6 standard strategically placed airbags, the Small SUV is designed to protect all within. Available collision alert systems such as the forward collision alert system, lane departure warning, side blind zone alert, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert systems maximize the safety while operating the vehicle. Steering wheel controls and voice dial commands are also available to further increase the driver safety and keep the driver’s attention where it should be, on the road.
Because we live in a mobile media world, GMC wanted to ensure that the option for a safe integration between mobile technology and those within the vehicle was achieved. This has been accomplished with the use of the built in 4G LTE Wi-Fi. This feature allows selected social applications to sync with the console allowing for hands free messaging, Bluetooth, and navigational assistance. Additional USB ports are available on some models to power additional devices as well as wireless charging stations.
