2015 Cadillac Escalade vs Lincoln Navigator
The Cadillac Escalade has always been one of the leaders among large luxury SUVs, with the Lincoln Navigator aiming to take its top spot. Both models saw updates for 2015, allowing them to maintain a close competition.
At a glance, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator are incredibly similar. They each offer two sizes, the Navigator and Navigator L and Escalade and Escalade ESV. They can each seat 8 passengers and have DVD entertainment, 460 pound-feet of torque, and the choice of 2- or 4-wheel drive.
Although the Escalade and Navigator generate the same torque, they do so with different engines. The Cadillac has a 6.2-liter V8 while the Lincoln uses a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6. The V8 engine in the Cadillac Escalade is able to produce 40 horsepower more than the Lincoln, and the engine sounds better. Keep in mind, however, that the rear-wheel drive Lincoln can tow more than the Cadillac at 9,000 pounds.
Even with very different engines, fuel economy is similar for the two models. Comparing all-wheel drive models shows the Escalade getting 1 more mile per gallon on the highway and the Navigator getting 1 more in the city. In real-world testing, the Escalade maintains a slight lead, even when comparing the larger Escalade ESV to the standard size Navigator.
Either SUV is a luxury vehicle with all the premium features and comforts you would expect. The 3rd row is slightly more comfortable for adults in the Navigator, but the 2nd-row seats in the Escalade are more comfortable and spacious. Considering most people are more likely to use the 2nd row as opposed to the 3rd, this gives the Cadillac an advantage. Keep in mind that even with the Navigator’s updates, the Escalade has more interior style with a modern flair. The latest tech makes it truly feel like a luxury flagship model.
