2013 Cadillac ATS Making Head Way
A 2013 Cadillac ATS is not only in the making, but it has recently been spied out road testing.
This is Cadillac’s newest addition to their already amazing lineup of vehicles. The ATS will be a smaller car, rivaling the 3-series and C-class. The ATS will first be offered as a sedan, expected to come in late 2012, then about a year later an ATS Coupe is expected to follow. And it has been rumored that there will be a high performance ATS-V model available in 2014. This sports version is rumored to boast a 470 horsepower V-8 engine. Amazing, right? And Cadillac isn’t stopping there. The rumor mill continues with the possibility of an ATS-V Convertible as well as a not -so-possible, but possible, Sport Wagon version of the ATS.
From the spy shots you can see that the design is influenced from the CTS, which we couldn’t be happier about. It seems the designers are sticking with the brand’s design language of “Art and Science.”
So what’s underneath? It’s believed that the ATS will have GMs new “Alpha” platform which is a rear-wheel drive design. We’ve heard that the Alpha design may flow into future models like the next-generation CTS which the design is expected to make the cars lighter.
Two engines options are expected to be offered, a 2.0-liter turbocharged mill with 270 horse power which is thought to have a fuel economy of 22/32 MPG as well as a 3.6-liter V-6 with 330 horsepower. Transmissions may most likely include a six-speed in both manual and automatic transmission.
The brand new 2013 Cadillac ATS should start production by the end of next year. We will keep close tabs on any new developments. If you’d like to check out the lineup of Cadillac’s now stop by Bill DeLord Cadillac today! What do you think about Cadillac making a new smaller car?
